Napkin rings of red white and blue.
Make some simple white stars. It's important to Block your Stars. Otherwise they will curl up like starfish and it will give your napkin rings a whole different effect.

Chain 21
Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from the hook and hdc across (19)
Row 2: Ch 1 and turn, hdc across (19)
Do not turn, -hdc at the end in the middle of the two rows. Make two dcs in the same space and then hdc in that space as well, sl st at the first row and sc across
find the point at the end in the middle of the two rows (hdc, dc, dc, hdc ) sl st at the end.
Row 3: attach red yarn and sc, sc across in all hdc, 2 sc in each dc at the end and sc in hdc continue sc across the other side until the end, 2 sc in each dc at the end and sc in hdc, sc in each until you get to the start of the red round, slip st at the start.
You can then attach your star to one side of the napkin ring on the outside. If you want to have a button closure the other side has a button hole. Or you can just sew the ends together for a ring. I made mine both ways.
