Peanut the baby Elephant

Peanut the Tiny Elephant applique
Naming a baby elephant "Peanut" is TOO common right? Oh well, I did it anyway. This is a very tiny applique. I opted for a straight trunk . Peanut is probably looking up to his momma with his trunk extended. Momma elephant coming soon...

Stitches needed Magic Circle (mc), slip stitch (ss), double crochet (dc), half double crochet (hdc), and single crochet (sc)
hook : 3.5MM
baby weight yarn look for the 3 on the label or try one of these.
Peanut would look just as cute in other colors but I've only tried making him in grey so far.
Body
magic circle

slip stitch into the top of the chain 3 and pull the tail to close the magic circle.
Round 2: 2hdc in each stitch around (16)
Round 3: slip st, ch 2, dc, hdc in same stitch. (this makes the first leg)
slip st into the next st, slip st,
ch 2 in next, dc, hdc in same stitch, (second leg)

slipstitch,

ch 8 (for trunk) sc 7 (back down the trunk)
ss in same, ss, ss, ss, ss,ss, ss, ss, ch3 tie off for the tail.



Ear: mc
ch 3, dc x 3,
hdc x3,
dc, hdc, ss in mc
and pull tight

Attach your ear to the elephant body.
french knot for eye in black
