April Showers bring May flowers!

Have you ever wanted a dishtowel that hangs in your kitchen without a button? 

This dishtowel hangs with a flower that you can make yourself.  You might consider making a flower scrubby to match the dishtowel.  In fact, you might just fall in love with making this dishtowel and want to make one in every color.

Morning glory Hanging Dishtowel

You can find this pattern on Ravelry or on Etsy.  This is a premium  pattern as I feel that it is very well worth it.  I work hard on all my patterns but in this pattern I truly expressed myself as a designer.  

Materials:
Cotton yarn
Consider some of these options in cotton yarn

5.00mm/H crochet hook
To check if you have the correct crochet hook for this pattern, here is a crochet hook conversion tool.

 


Stitches: 
sc = single crochet; insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through both loops on your hook.

dc = double crochet; yarn over and insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop (you now have 3 loops on your hook), yarn over and pull through the first two loops, yarn over and pull through the last two loops.

 
fpdc = front post double crochet; yarn over and go around the front of the post, yarn over and pull around, yarn over and pull through the first two loops, yarn over and pull through the last two loops.

fpdc2tog - front post double crochet 2 together, yarn over and go around the front of the post, yarn over and pull around, yarn over and go around around the front of the post, yarn over and pull around, yarn over and pull through all three loops on your hook.

hdc = half double crochet; yarn over and insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, (you have 3 loops on your hook- like a double crochet) yarn over and pull through all 3 at once.

ss = slip stitch; insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch and the loop all at once.


This dishtowel contains both alpine stitches and waffle stitches.  You will also decrease using fpdc2tog.  Don't worry, this is very similar to dc2tog.  You will just be going around the post.

You can find this pattern on Ravelry or on Etsy.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed designing it.  May truly did bring flowers for me, in the form of this flower topped dishtowel which is actually the same pattern as the flower scrubby pattern.  I made more of an layered flower at first but I decided that the flatter flower actually looked much better with the hanging towel.  You can make matching flower scrubbys to go with the dishtowels.  

My family members are used to my hanging dishtowels as I normally make towel toppers with a flower instead of a button as well.
