Pumpkin Coaster

It's that time again.  Fall, Pumpkins, apples, scarecrows, Hay rides.

  My sister loves to decorate her house for this time of year.  She told me that she would really love some pumpkin coasters.  So this is what I came up with.  It can also be used as an applique.  I made it into a coffee cup cozy as well.

Pumpkin Coaster

Materials:

Worsted weight yarn (look for the 4 on the label) in 2 colors

Color A = orange  

Color B = green 

Crochet hook  size 4.00mm / G

Crochet hook size 3.75 / F

Yarn needle and scissors

Stitches:

mc = magic circle

ss = slip stitch, insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch and the loop.

sc = single crochet =  insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch, (you have 2 loops), yarn over and pull through both

dc = double crochet; yarn over and insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through the first 2 loops,  yarn over and  pull through the last 2 loops

Pumpkin

With Color A: 

Crochet hook size 4.00mm / G

Make a magic circle

Round 1: Chain 3 in MC (counts as first dc), dc 11 in MC (12)

 

Round 2: DC x 2 in each stitch around (24)

Round 3:  sc, dc x 2, dc, dc x 2, dc, dc x 2, dc, dc x 2, dc, dc x 2, ss,, dc x2, dc, dc x 2, dc, dc x 2, dc, dc x 2, dc, dc x2, dc, sc, ss

Stem

With Color B and hook size 3.75mm / F

Chain 5

Row 1: SC in each stitch (4) chain 1 and turn 

Row 2: SC in each stitch (4) chain 1 and turn

Row 3: SC in each stitch (4) do not cut or tie off.

Attach the stem to the pumpkin by slip stitching it to the top of the pumpkin.  4 stitches) sc on the first stitch of the pumpkin by the side of the stem.

Chain 13, skip 1 stitch, remove your crochet hook and insert it from the back of the pumpkin, sc, chain 7, skip 1 stitch, chain 5, remove your crochet hook from the chain and insert it from the back of the pumpkin, sc.  tie off .
