Red Heart Heat Wave Review

I decided to try out new Red Heart Heat Wave yarn. On the ball band, it reads - "Heat Wave is a revolutionary yarn that is activated by sunlight, even on a cloudy day, to keep you up to 12° F warmer."

I bought 2 skeins of hot pink color by the name of Bikini! Red Heart Heat Wave Yarn, Bikini  I wanted to make some mittens for my daughter.  I'm a bit late making her mittens for this year but we've had a fairly mild winter yet here.

So my review of the yarn so far, it's easy to work with.  I've frogged my mitten about 5 times as I wanted to try to make a design while I made her the mitten.   I have only mild pilling with this yarn and it's only due to my many times of frogging.  The yarn is softer than  Red Heart Super Saver yarn and similar to  Red Heart With Love Yarn in softness.  I'd work with it again if I wanted to make a wearable that requires warmth.  I hope to finish her mittens this weekend as we expect to have some very cold weather next week. In the end, I went with a cuff

and then simple pattern of front post double crochet  x2 and back post double crochet x 2 (2 fpdc, 2 bpdc) I didn't write it up as I went along because I was in more of a hurry for her to be able to wear them to school today.
She was so happy to have her warm mittens today.

There are a lot of colors to choose from and the names of the colors are all summer/warm weather/vacation type names like beach bag, ocean, blue skies, summer night, sandy shores! Update

I made a hat out of the other skein of Red Heart Heat Wave.  I couldn't decided how to make the hat and I wanted to make a quick hat for my daughter rather than concentrating on making a new pattern.  So, I opted for a favorite pattern which I had used previously by Kinga from My Hobby is Crochet
